Sequin Top

Hi everyone!

This is my last post for my thrifting series, so I thought I would do something fun. I am styling a sequin top today that I picked up from Shelter on George Street. It's originally from Topshop and two sizes larger than I would normally go, but I like the way it has a looser, carefree fit.

Shirt: UK2LA, Leggings:Garage, Flats: H&M

I think this is a great top for New Years Eve, which is exactly what I'm planning. I layered my chiffon collared shirt underneath the top and added shiny leggings for texture.

Jacket:  Forever 21Jeans: Reitmans, Sneakers: Airwalk

This outfit I combined it with casual pieces to make it more appropriate for the day time. I feel sequins are more than fine for everyday wear as long as you don't go all out with the other parts of your outfit!

Jeans: Topshop, Sneakers: Airwalk

This final outfit I paired my mom jeans and sneakers with the top. This is also a casual look and I like the shape of the jeans with the shirt. Similarly, I think this top would look great with boyfriend jeans!

Well, that's all folks! Thanks for reading some (or all) of my thrifting posts, feel free to comment on which entry was your favourite in the series. Also, keep on reading because I will have more posts of different kinds coming soon!

But for now, here are other tops to help you get your sparkle on:

Statement Blazer

Hello!

This is the second last post for my school assignment, and I am styling a textured blazer from Warehouse today. I picked it up from CLAN and it was six pounds, which is a little more than I was hoping, but I think it will look nice for future presentations and job interviews!

Top: Streetwear Society,  Pants: Primark, Flats: H&M

Here is a fairly formal outfit, in which I chose to pair the blazer with all black to make it stand out. I added my leather pants though to contrast the textures and make it more interesting.

T-Shirt: Gap,  Pants: Active, Sneakers: Victory

This one is a more casual take on the blazer, and I really think that the sneakers work well with it, instantly dressing the whole outfit down.

Shirt: Joe Fresh,  Jeans: Garage,  Flats: H&M

And here is my cheeky smile that I was originally doing as a joke for the camera but it actually describes me perfectly. My light blue button down, jeans and flats make this outfit smart but not too stuffy to wear on a normal day.

Here are other blazers that are better than basic black! Enjoy!

Plaid Shirt

 Hey Guys!

Here's my eighth entry for my thrifting series. I am starting to count down the days I have left here in Scotland, looking forward to heading home for the holidays. This top that I am styling today is originally from Topshop and it's a red, white and blue plaid with a boxy fit to it. I love the shape of this shirt as I feel it makes it more unique. I purchased it at the Shelter shop on Union street.

Cardigan: American Eagle, Jeans: Reitmans, Boots: Thrifted

I first paired this top with my sequined cardigan from American Eagle. I love this cardigan so much and I feel it easily adds a bit of flair to any outfit. Also, when wearing it there's no need for extra jewellery!

Skirt: Topshop,  Sneakers: Victory

For a spring/summer outfit I tucked the shirt in to my A-line skirt and added white sneakers. This outfit is definitely not appropriate for this time of year though, considering it was snowing just an hour before I took this picture!

Tank Top: Cheap Monday, Jeans: Primark, Sneakers: Victory

This is an easygoing and casual outfit that I would wear for everyday activities. I layered the plaid shirt on top of a tank top and balanced out the look with white sneakers.

That's all for now with the plaid shirt, hope you enjoyed! Here are other plaid options to look at:

Boxy Blouse

Hiya!

I am really excited to post this seventh blog entry in the series because this top I picked up on Monday is going to become one of my all time favourites in my wardrobe, I can already tell. It's a navy V neck top originally from Next, and I bought it at a Cancer Research UK charity shop for two pounds.

This shirt originally had a chiffon underlayer at the bottom to extend the top, which was in a white and navy watercolour print. I decided to cut out that part so it would just be a plain navy shirt, which makes it all the more versatile.

Scarf: Gift,  Pants: Topshop,  Shoes: H&M

Earlier I was debating on whether to wear a silver statement necklace with this outfit or stick with my black scarf and I'm glad I chose the scarf. The visual weight of it I think balances well with the black flats and pants whereas a silver necklace may seem too light on top compared to the bottom.

Pants: Topshop, Boots: Thrifted, Scarf: Thrifted, Earrings: Thrifted

This is a casual outfit with my top being tucked into my mom jeans. I think it works because the pants are also looser fitting; if I had tucked the shirt into skinny jeans it wouldn't have looked quite right. Plus I feel I should get bonus points since all my accessories are thrifted as well. You may not be able to see them all that well but I added large gold earrings to ass a bit more interest to the outfit.

Tank Top: J. Crew,  Pants: Primark  Shoes: H&M

This last outfit dresses up my shirt with my J. Crew sequined tank top layered underneath and my faux leather jeans for some texture.

There are actually so many other ways I could have styled this outfit but those will have to wait for future outfits! Hope you liked this post and any feedback is appreciated. Here are some other boxy shirts similar to mine that are also great for layering:

Patterned Crop Top

Hello!

This post in my thrifting series features a patterned crop top that I picked up from Shelter, the same spot where I grabbed the palm print shirt in my last entry. It is originally from H&M and I was drawn to it because I felt the pattern would pair well with other items in my wardrobe (but you can be the judge if I paired them well).

I don't usually wear crop tops because I feel self conscious but I felt this one was different because I could layer it with other items as opposed to the tighter t-shirt crop tops seen in stores today.

Shirt: Bizzbee,  Jeans: Garage, Boots: Thrifted, Purse: Fossil,  Necklace:Kit

Here I layered it with my chambray shirt underneath which I wasn't sure if it would work but I ended up liking the outcome! This is a good way to wear a crop top when the weather gets too cold to expose your middle.

Turtleneck: Denver Hayes,  Skirt: Topshop, Boots: Call It Spring

This outfit feels a little bit seventies to me. I wore my black turtleneck underneath and added my A-line skirt from Topshop. Tights added would also look good with this outfit.

Jeans: Topshop,  Sneakers: Victory

Please excuse my hair here, the wind doesn't make it look so good! I picked up these mom jeans from Topshop the other day and think they go great with this top. The waist on these pants is high enough that I don't mind exposing my midriff. This is an easy outfit that I would definitely wear if only it was a little warmer out!

So I hope I showed you how you can take a summer item and make it appropriate for Fall, because all it takes is a little creativity!

Palm Print Shirt

Hello everyone!

I recently did a large thrift store trip so I found lots of great items that will be making appearances in upcoming blog entries. Today's piece though is a palm print button up shirt, originally from New Look. I picked this piece up from Shelter on Union Street. This store had a large selection of items in my size and their displays were great!

Also you may notice something different about me in these next pictures....

Sweater: Primark  Leggings: Garage  Sneakers: Nike

Yep, I dyed my hair! It has been something I had been thinking about for awhile but I finally took the plunge and actually did it. Enough about my hair though, let's get on with the outfit! This is a comfy and sporty look, layering a loose sweater over top of the palm print shirt.

Jacket: Forever 21  Skirt: Hollister  Boots: Joe Fresh

This next look is a little more sleek and it can easily have tights added to it for colder weather. I put this jacket on top instead of my leather one because I feel the grey adds more interest and balances out the look.

Pants: H&M  Shoes: H&M  Necklace: UK2LA

The last outfit casual as well but more put together than the first. I tucked in half of the shirt, leaving the back flowing, and unbuttoned the top lower so it would look more laid back.

Even though the palm print is summery, I believe the black and white helps it become wearable for all year round. This will be a piece in my wardrobe I definitely think I'll be able to style in more ways than just these three.

Here are some other palm printed tops for you to check out!

Bye for now!

Black T-Shirt Dress

I currently have a full week off of school (yay!) so I am posting this fourth entry already and expect another one pretty soon! This time I am styling a black t-shirt dress that I picked up from Sue Ryder on George Street.

All of the items in this store are only one pound which is great!

Shirt: Bizzbee,  Tights: Primark,  Boots:Call It Spring, Scarf: Thrifted,  Purse: Fossil

This outfit feels very autumn to me. I also got this scarf from a secondhand shop and I think the colours go great with the denim shirt and browns in my accessories. It's a nice casual look that shows just how easy it is to layer this dress with other items.

Shirt: Topshop   Shoes: Victory

This is a really different look than I would usually wear, but I actually like it a lot. I paired this slightly cropped shirt over top of the dress to make it look more like a skirt, then added white sneakers. It's a slightly androgynous look and I feel fits well with the normcore trend.

Jacket: Vero Moda,  Tights: Ardene,  Boots: Joe Fresh

The last outfit is slightly edgier than I would usually wear as well. I chose to wear all black, but I feel the pattern in the tights keep it from looking too black. This outfit I would save for the night time!

Here are some other casual black dress options that are not just the t-shirt style but other flattering cuts.

Leopard Print Top

"As far as I'm concerned, leopard is a neutral" -Jenna Lyons

I agree with this quote 100 percent and this is why my third post on my thrifting series includes this a leopard print tank top I picked up at The British Red Cross shop on Union street. I really do love leopard print and I have many pieces in my wardrobe that have this pattern. It is easier than you'd think to pair with other items and can work for any age. I find that if you stick to the larger version of the print rather than it having to small of spots, you won't run the risk of looking tacky.

This secondhand store is one of my favourites that I've been to in Aberdeen so far because their front window display is always so nice and they keep it extremely clean and tidy inside. They have a good variety of pieces for various ages and styles.

Collared Shirt: UK2LA,  Cardigan: LOFT,  Jeans: Reitman's,  Boots: Thrifted  Necklace: UK2LA
This first outfit is one that I have worn to school because I think it's casual but smart. The leopard pairs really well with the shade of green of the sweater and I like the way it looks with the collared shirt underneath.

Jacket: Vero Moda,  Pants: Primark,  Sneakers: Airwalk
This look reminds me of Sandy from Grease! I paired my leather jacket, leather pants and sneakers to make it cool and effortless. This would be a good outfit for going out, especially if I added some jewelry.

Jacket: Forever21,  Pants: Topshop,  Shoes: H&M
What I especially love about leopard is that it's also super easy to mix with other prints. I paired these black and white Topshop pants with them and added a denim jacket for some texture.

Here are some other leopard print tops that are not just tank tops!
