Hi everyone,
As I'm coming to the end of my time here in Aberdeen, (two weeks left here!) I've decided to write a post about the fashion I've seen while living here. A lot of people have similar ways of dressing as each other and I have seen certain trends pop up among girls from class and on the street. Here are some key pieces that you can buy if you want the 'Scottish Girl' look!
Bomber jackets: This is definitely a trend seen everywhere this season but I highly doubt I've gone a single day here without seeing a girl my age wearing one. This kind of jacket is actually pretty good for Scottish weather when it's chilly but not snowing or raining. I really like this type of jacket for a sporty vibe.
Running shoes: The most practical trend out there! There are so many nice sneakers in stores these days and they are perfect for casual days at school. I find it hard to resist buying multiple pairs while over here, for the simple fact I won't have room in my suitcase! New Balance, Nike and Adidas are the way to go.
High-waisted, ripped jeans: Girls here are all about the knee slash in their jeans, which you don't have to buy a new pair to achieve. Just grab your scissors and cut a line at the knee and voila you're trendy! Also extremely high waisted jeans without front pockets are popular here too, perfect for crop tops.
Cropped turtlenecks: A bit contradictory, but good for fall since you can be flirty with the length but covered up at the neck to keep warm! I used to hate turtlenecks but now that they're everywhere this season, I admit I own a couple (hey they're practical!).
Structured bags: Not many girls at Robert Gordon carry actual backpacks, they much prefer structured leather tote bags. I really like the juxtaposition of wearing a boxy purse with a super casual outfit.
Those are the key pieces I've seen during my studies, it'll definitely be interesting to see how these trends are interpreted back home once I return!
