Fur Vest

 Hello!

Here is my second post in my thrifting series, and it's based on a fur vest I purchased one of my first days in Aberdeen. I got it from the Barnardo's shop located on Union Street. It was a bit more than I was anticipating being from a charity shop, but fur vests are very trendy this fall so I was still more than happy not to have to buy one at H&M or Zara.

Disclaimer: The weather was not the most cooperative while taking photos of my outfits, so I'm not looking at my best! You've been warned...

Garage
Top: Bizzbee, Jeans: Garage,  Boots: Thrifted,  Watch: Fossil

This first outfit is casual but I think it looks really polished. I wore a chambray shirt with dark wash jeans, as well as brown Chelsea boots and gold bracelets. I think it works because the denims are of different washes and the vest really helps break it up visually so it doesn't look too 'Canadian Tuxedo'. The brown boots were also thrifted so that's a bonus. I also feel this outfit could easily be worn by someone young like myself or also middle aged woman since it isn't too flashy.

Grey shirt: Joe Fresh, Leather skirt: Hollister, Boots: Joe Fresh,  Necklace: George

This next one is slightly more dressed up due to the jewelry and leather skirt. My tights are fleece lined so I can still wear an outfit like this in the winter without freezing. The necklace adds some sparkle and shine which makes me think of wearing this to a holiday party, if I swapped out the boots for something dressier.

Turtleneck: Denver Hayes,  Leggings: Tuff Athletics,  Boots: Joe Fresh,  Cat Ears: Claire's

And last but not least is my Halloween outfit! I decided this fur vest would go good with an animal costume, so I chose to be a cat. All you need is an all black outfit, whiskers on your face and a pair of cat ears! This is a great option for someone who is looking for a last minute costume idea that doesn't look completely last minute.

Anyways, I am loving this fur vest for layering in the fall and upcoming winter because it goes with more items than you would think! It's definitely a key piece for fall I would recommend buying.

Finally, I just want to wish everyone a Happy Halloween!!
Bye for now!

Little Red Dress

Hi everyone,
I am starting a ten post series on this blog for one of classes I'm taking right now at school. My focus is going to be on items I find in thrift stores and showing you how I style them three different ways.

Thrifting is something that I love to do and almost half of my wardrobe consists of items that I have purchased secondhand. There's nothing better in my eyes than looking through piles of clothing and finding a hidden gem, especially at a low price! Some people may be turned off of thrift stores because the items have been previously worn, but I feel that as long as you wash it before use, it's just like new. It's a great way to save money and better for the environment as well.

So, onto my first item. I picked up an ASOS petite red dress from Barnardo's recently, located just near my accommodation. Barnardo's focuses on support for children, being a part of various programs in the community to help them live a better life. This store didn't have a large selection of clothing, but the prices were hard to beat. I got this dress for one pound.
The outside of Barnardo's. As you can see, most items are 99p

This dress is very versatile and can be dressed up or dressed down, which makes it a great piece in my wardrobe. Here are my three different looks:
Jacket: Forever 21, Purse: Fossil, Sneakers: Victory

This first look is a casual one, with a denim jacket and sneakers. I love putting a denim jacket on top of anything to make it seem more laid back. I would wear this to school or just around town.

Collared shirt: UK2LA, Leather Jacket: Vero Moda, Sneakers: Airwalk
This is a transition outfit; it's not too dressy due to the sneakers but still looks put together. I would definitely wear this out at night and you could easily swap the shoes to make it more dressy. I love collared shirts at the moment and was happy this dress looked good with one underneath!

Necklace: Derng, Flats: H&M
This is the "fanciest" outfit of the three, and I would wear it for a special occasion. I added one of my favourite statement necklaces and black flats since I am not one to usually wear heels. The neckline of this dress makes it great to pair a collar style necklace. Plus with the colour, you can easily pair gold or silver with it, the red goes great with both.

Also, here are some other red dress options that are similar to the dress I picked up, in case you wanted to find something like mine online:

Anyways, hope you have enjoyed this first post in my thrifting series because I have nine more to go!

Thanks for reading, see you soon!
